From climbing global peaks and swimming open lakes to becoming the first six-time cancer survivor to run a marathon on every continent, Jonathan Acott has spent over two decades learning what it truly takes to endure when conditions turn brutal.
Rather than offering generic motivation, Jonathan brings an understated approach called Radical Realism—a practical blend of pragmatism, quiet optimism, and radical ownership of your situation. He recently brought this concept to life by running the London Marathon in 30kg of steel plate armour, using the physical weight of the suit as a metaphor for the psychological friction and heavy loads we all carry.
Empathetic, engaging, and genuinely warm, Jonathan speaks with a relatable, down-to-earth perspective. Whether addressing large audiences, running interactive workshops, or hosting key events, he provides simple, practical tools that help people navigate adversity, build steady momentum, and focus on what they can control.
Jonathan Acott is an empathetic, engaging, knowledgeable and impactful motivational speaker. With his dynamic personality and innovative approach, each speaking engagement is tailored to the specific client and audience.
A seasoned speaker, he is known for his authentic, raw and genuine approach to presenting. Whilst cancer was his origin story, his talks don’t dwell on it; they are positive, uplifting and inspirational talks focussed on what can be achieved both physically and mentally.
He tells his story of surviving six cancers (initially testicular which relapsed four times, as well as a bowel cancer) and living with multiple treatments and surgeries, a breakdown and other mental health challenges with humour and candour, recounting the highs and lows and all the lessons he’s learned along the way. He transforms the lives of audiences by talking, not just about illness, but how you can make the most of yourself to live a life less ordinary.
Mentally the challenges have been significant too with a reduced life expectancy, depression, mental health challenges, anxiety and PTSD alongside a career interrupted and numerous redundancies. But the important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle, the essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well.
Despite, in-spite and because of the illnesses and the scars there have been triumphs. Jonathan displays an indefatigable spirit to all his endeavours and despite not being quick or strong his indomitable will to push through has seen him achieve amazing things. From finishing an Ironman with active cancer through to walking on fire and running marathons. Jonathan has climbed the highest mountains, swum the longest lakes and has thrived whilst pursuing a life less than ordinary. Jonathan seeks adventure and finds the challenge of events a way to share his story and to further remind himself of how lucky he is. He is the first six-time cancer survivor to run a marathon on every continent.
From a C-Suite to team bonding, a wellbeing event to a charity gala, Jonathan delivers an impactful and inspiring talk to audiences. From the time I first spoke to Jonathan, it was clear he would be an inspiring speaker. He supported our conference and attended the full conference, which is important to us, as we want our speakers to feel part of the day. His talk was funny, inspiring, honest and impactful. We will book Jonathan again, his messages are still being talked about and impact the service focus of our staff.

Jonathan did a talk for WWF-UK as part of our Feelgood February event where we run a series of wellbeing events and talks for employees. Jonathan was hugely motivating and inspirational – he has an authentic style and ability to inspire despite all the challenges he has faced. Amazing – would recommend.

Jonathan was a pleasure to work with, from initial contact all the way through to delivery. His open and candid presentation included topics that clearly resonated with our audience, a great experience all round.

Jonathan spoke with honesty and left a lot of people leaving the talk with a new perspective. His talk inspired a lot of people and there were several people who approached him after to thank him for how good the talk was. I will be booking him again in the future for sure.

Jonathan was really efficient and a dream to work with – responding quickly and meeting our needs. We loved his talk, it was open, honest, and humorous at points too! Everyone in the office took something away from his inspiring story. I’d highly recommend.

Jonathan presented at our first event this year, so set the standard for our online events programme…and what a standard he set. From the opening statement…which generally stops people in the tracks, right through to closing remarks Jonathan had the audience captivated. Jonathan’s story and his approach to life brings plenty of reflection to the audience and for our business group this is a good thing. It reminds us, it’s not all about work, but also helps to give focus to our business interests as well. One of my favourite quotes from Jonathan (one I use a lot) is “control the controllables, and don’t worry about anything else”. This one always helps me focus. If you want someone to inspire, motivate and generally get you to think a little bit differently, then Jonathan is the right person for you. I wouldn’t hesitate to have Jonathan back to our events and would happily recommend him to anyone as a speaker at their events.
