Maggie Oliver.

Maggie Oliver is perhaps best known as the “Detective turned Whistleblower” who resigned from Greater Manchester Police in late 2012 in order to expose the now-infamous Rochdale Grooming Scandal.

During her journey for justice, the neglect she witnessed caused Maggie to initially embark on a lonely 18-month battle whilst still a serving Police Officer, during which she knocked on every door in a futile attempt to be heard. Those approached ranged from The Head of Serious Crime to The Chief Constable, from The IPCC to The Home Office. She was ultimately forced to choose between her conscience and her career but felt morally bound to resign to speak out publicly and expose this long-standing gross criminal neglect. As the first police officer ever to do this however, she had to face the very real possibility that she may go to prison for doing so!

Dr Ozak Esu

Ozak Esu is a multi-award winning professional electronic and electrical engineer. Maggie Alphonsi

Next up is another Maggie and the woman that broke the mould in International and domestic Rugby.

Maggie Alphonsi is the face of international women’s rugby and arguably one of the most well-known names in women’s team sports on the planet. Before announcing her international retirement in 2014, she represented her country an impressive 74 times, scored 28 tries, won a World Cup and helped England win a record-breaking seven consecutive Six Nations crowns.

Through her England rugby career she has become a household name but also a media professional, and since retiring she has commentated on live rugby matches, and featured in a diverse array of media outlets, from Stella Magazine to BBC’s Children in Need and The One Show.

Adah Paris

Tech futurist, cultural innovator Diversity and equality advocate and enabler of human blockchains.

Alex Scott MBE

The former Arsenal Captain and England Centurion is a well-regarded pundit for BBC and Sky Sports, a regular on BBC’s Match of the Day as well as fronting ambassadorial campaigns for brands such as Nike, Barclays and Cadbury’s.

Alex signed with Arsenal at age 8 and stayed with the team for most of her career. Alex helped the club achieve a domestic double of the FA Women’s Cup and the FA Women’s Premier League. She was also a key figure in the historic quadruple season for Arsenal in which they won all their trophy competitions.

This became the obvious prelude to Alex’s captaincy for the club in the 2014/15 season. While playing for England Alex had the opportunity to travel all over the world playing the game she loves.

Alex retired from international football in 2017, though not before representing Great Britain in the 2016 Rio Olympics

Alex is the second most capped England player with 140 appearances.

Amy Williams MBE

Amy Williams is British former skeleton racer and 2010, Olympic gold medallist. 

After returning from Vancouver clutching what was to be the only British medal won at the Winter Olympics in 2010, Amy became the first British solo champion for 30 years, and the first female winner for 58 years. However, injury cut short her quest to defend this title and Amy retired from Skeleton in May 2012

Since retiring from full-time sports, Amy has developed her media career and is now in high demand hosting and as a leading female speaker for any number of high profile blue chip organisations.

Anita Rani

Anita Rani is the presenter of Countryfile (BBC1) and a regular contributor to The One Show (BBC1). She has also presented many travel-inspired documentaries for the BBC including the two-part series, Refugee Camp; Our Desert Home, New York: America’s Busiest City and The World’s Busiest Railway Station, which featured as part of the BBC’s Indian Season.

Claire Lomas MBE

Former event horserider, Claire Lomas became paraplegic in 2007 as the result of a freak riding accident.  She has since become one of the most inspirational sports personalities, having fundraised over £500,000 and for finishing the London Marathon in 17 days using the ReWalk robotic suit. 

Claire re-wore the suit when she had the honour of lighting the Paralympic cauldron in Trafalgar Square and used it to complete the Great North Run, walking the course in 5 days, and all while 16-weeks were pregnant!

Claire shares how the five best days of her life have all been after her devastating injury. She describes the turning point which was when she stopped thinking of everything she could no longer do, and instead the many things she could still do. 

People leave the room believing in themselves, inspired and hugely motivated. When faced with challenges in their own lives, Claire’s words stick in their mind “Whether you believe you can or whether you believe you can’t – you are right”.
