Samantha Baines studied at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and her career has since spanned stand-up, television, theatre, and film.

SAMANTHA BAINES – COMEDY

Her stand-up comedy shows tend to have a feminist edge to them, and have taken her to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where she has frequently sold out her shows. She is a Funny Women Finalist, a What The Frock Best Newcomer winner, Funny Women Best Show nominee, a UK Punch Championship finalist, and IWPA Winner.

SAMANTHA BAINES – MEDIA

Samantha has transcended genres, acting in drama and comedy shows, performing on stage, appearing as a guest on entertainment shows, broadcasting on the radio, and hosting a successful podcast.

Samantha has acted in TV programmes such as Silent Witness (2018), The Crown (2016), Call the Midwife (2016) and Doctors (2015), and West End show Magic Mike Live. She has been a guest on Loose Women, Sky News and Andrew Neil’s This Week, and broadcast across BBC Radio London, BBC Radio Kent and Virgin Radio.

Since 2020, Samantha has hosted The Divorce Social podcast based on her personal experiences of divorce. It aims to change the conversation around divorce, and has since had over a quarter of a million downloads, was named The Times Podcast of the Week, number 1 on the iTunes chart, and won the bronze award for the Best Sex and Relationship Podcast at the British Podcast Awards 2022.

As the Director of the marketing company Penguin in the Room, Samantha has managed the social media posts for the likes of Lucy Porter, Susan Calman, Ruby Wax, and Helen George.

SAMANTHA BAINES – WRITING

She is also a very successful author of children’s and factual books. Her books Harriet Versus the Galaxy (2020) and The Night the Moon Went Out (2021) both feature deaf protagonists. In 2023, she published the book Living With Hearing Loss and Deafness: A Guide to Owning it and Loving It. This made it to Amazon’s bestseller lists even before publication and provides a humorous yet informative look at how to live and thrive with hearing loss. She has also contributed writings to The Guardian, Time Out magazine, Huffington Post, Stylist magazine, The Independent, The Evening Standard, and Modern Women magazine.

SAMANTHA BAINES – ACTIVISM

Whilst she didn’t initially set out to be an activist for the deaf community, she has accidentally fallen into it. She is now a proud ambassador for the Royal National Institute for Deaf People. She has fronted their ‘Subtitle It’ campaign, spoken to MPs in the House of Commons, and has led talks on deaf awareness and tinnitus.

Samantha aims to bring joy and fun to everything she does, whether hosting Q&As, giving keynote speeches, or hosting corporate events and award ceremonies.
