Roo Irvine is a TV presenter, antiques expert, podcaster, writer and auctioneer.
Roo was discovered after BBC Antiques Road Trip visited her in her antique shop in Scotland in early 2015. An invitation to join the team of antique experts followed, and her life took a dramatic turn, soon reaching millions on the popular weekly show.
A decade later, Roo became a regular TV expert, having appeared on programmes such as BBC Antiques Road Trip, Flipping Profit, Bargain Hunt, and Celebrity Antiques Road Trip. More recently, Roo has been promoted to the main presenter for BBC Bargain Hunt.
In addition, Roo has done numerous podcasts, interviews, corporate and charity engagements, and written for several monthly publications.
Roo Irvine once had a successful career in the corporate sector but always nurtured a passion for antiques. In 2013, her life took a dramatic turn when she experienced the devastating loss of both her father and father-in-law within just three weeks. In response, Roo and her husband decided to leave their high-level corporate roles to care for their recently widowed mothers.
Sharing a mutual love for antiques and possessing a sharp eye for quality pieces, the couple embraced a new path when Roo’s husband encouraged them to pursue their passion—leading to the creation of Kilcreggan Antiques. In 2015, producers from the BBC’s Antiques Road Trip visited the shop. Impressed by Roo and her business, they offered her a role on the popular prime-time show.
Antiques Roadshow is a long-running television programme where members of the public bring their antiques and collectables to be appraised by experts.
As well as being one of the antique experts on the Antiques Roadshow for nine years, Roo also presents on the daytime tv programme Bargain Hunt. She is a familiar face on TV, well known for her many TV appearances on Antiques Road Trip, Flipping Profit and Celebrity Antiques Roadtrip.
During the pandemic, Roo launched her video and podcast channels under the tag #RadioRoo, boosting her ever-growing social media following. Roo also writes about antiques in monthly magazines and in the Scotland Correspondent.
In early 2024, Roo announced she would be joining Lomond Radio, presenting a monthly radio broadcast. Her show, ‘Roo’s rhythms’, will explore the significance of music in our lives, delving into the stories, power, passion, and emotions that songs evoke.
Roo invites music lovers to join her for a journey through melodies and memories, promising a show that connects listeners to both the past and the present.
