Ollie Hynd was appointed an MBE in 2013 for his services to swimming, was awarded the Disabled Sportsperson of the Year accolade at the 2014 and 2015 Nottinghamshire Sports Awards, and was presented with the Freedom of Mansfield in 2016.

Diagnosed with neuromuscular myopathy and associated limb deformities as a child, Ollie Hynd was unsure what impact this disability would have on his future. However, through the power of sport and swimming, he gained many opportunities he may not have otherwise experienced.
His career started with a bang, debuting at the 2011 IPC European Championships, where he won his first gold medal. Many medals would follow in the 200m individual medley, the 400m freestyle, and 100m backstroke across the Paralympic Games, Commonwealth Games, World Championships, and European Championships.
Since retiring from professional swimming, Ollie can often be seen across television and radio channels, speaking about his sporting experience, disability, and other topics. He has featured on Channel 4 and Sky News’ Paralympics coverage in 2021, on BBC Newsbeat, TalkNews TV, and BBC Breakfast (2021), Sky Sports News (2021), Lorraine (2021), The Last Leg (2021), interviews on the 10-year legacy of the London 2012 games, and Sky News’ Daily Podcast.
An eloquent, entertaining, inspiring, and passionate speaker, Ollie is the perfect addition to any event, offering after-dinner and keynote speeches on his sporting career, disability, and how to overcome any obstacle in your way.
