In 2012, Nish Kumar’s debut solo show ‘Who is Nish Kumar?’ earned him a spot on the ‘Ten Funniest Jokes of the Fringe’ list for the TV channel Dave, as well as a nomination for the 2013 Leicester Comedy Festival’s Best Show. His 2015 and 2016 Edinburgh shows were nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award as well as going on longer national tours.
His shows have been so successful he has been asked to perform at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the International Comedy Festival Roadshow India, New Zealand Comedy Festival, Leicester Comedy Festival, Latitude Music Festival, the Lord Taverners Annual Charity Cricket Lunch, Edinburgh TV Festival and the Jaipur Literature Festival.
His comedy style is a mix of anger, bewilderment, politics and self-deprecation in performances that have been described as “intelligent, inventive, thought-provoking and delivered with passion, urgency and enthusiasm”.

Alongside his stand-up comedy career, Nish is a popular face and voice on TV and radio, as a presenter and guest. He has hosted two series of his own show Spotlight Talent for BBC Radio 4, as well as hosting The Mash Report (2017-2021), Newsjack (2015) and The News Quiz (2020).
