Juliette Burton is an award-winning comedian, writer, presenter and mental health charity ambassador.
In 2014, Juliette debuted at the Edinburgh Festival with her popular show Look At Me, which returned the following year. She has since performed other sell-out performances Edinburgh Festival, with Butterfly Effect, Defined and No Brainer.
Juliette has been featured on several TV programmes, appearing on BBC at the Edinburgh Festivals (BBC iplayer), The One Show (BBC One), This Morning (ITV) and Tomorrow’s World (BBC). Additionally, her work has been showcased on the Today programme on BBC Radio 4 and Afternoon Edition on BBC Radio 5 Live.
Juliette has also written for Cosmopolitan, Metro Online, The Independent, iPaper, Huffington Post and BBC News.In 2021, Juliette launched her podcast Not-So Lonely Planet.
With a history of mental health challenges, Juliette Burton is open about her conditions. She was sectioned under the mental health act at the age of 17 and has been diagnosed with multiple conditions, including OCD, anxiety disorder, depression and bipolar disorder. She is an ambassador for the mental health charity Rethink Mental Illness and works closely with Mind, Beat and Time To Change.
The theme of mental health and her own experiences are regularly incorporated into her shows in innovative and entertaining ways for mainstream audiences.
Juliette is an informed speaker and able to talk confidently on the subject of mental health, using her experiences and strength to offer hope. She has delivered talks to KPMG, Business Disability Forum, Merlin Entertainments and Jaguar Land Rover.

As well as being an accomplished comedian, Juliette Burton presented on a number of TV and video productions, including London Fix, Cambridge TV and Freeview. She has featured in a number of TV programmes, sharing her mental health journey, including BBC’s Tomorrow’s World in 2017 and BBC’s The One Show.
Beyond her TV work, Juliette has a significant presence in radio, having worked on air and in production for BBC radio since 2008, including roles in comedy, drama, and narration for various programmes.
Juliette has a strong background in journalism, having studied at the London College of Communication and worked as a broadcast journalist for the BBC. As a writer, she has contributed to Cosmopolitan, The Huffington Post, The Independent and the BBC News.
In 2023, Juliette launched her podcast Not So Lonely Planet where she explores various topics by engaging with individuals passionate about their unique interests. She talks to people who truly love what they do, in their corner of the world. It’s a celebration of nerdery, but also of passion.
Each episode highlights a different expert or enthusiast, showcasing their dedication and the stories behind their passions. Episodes so far have included a range of subjects from hidden London landmarks to the intricacies of cheese-making and indoor cricket.
Juliette was recommended at Edinburgh Fringe 2019 by The Telegraph, Evening Standard and iPaper, was The Times’ one to watch in Best of Edinburgh Fringe 2018 shortlist, Best Comedy To See in Sunday Times Culture magazine, The Telegraph’s Rising Stars, won Voice Magazine Pick of the Fringe Award 2017, Bedfringe 2017 Spirit of the Fringe Award, New Current Woman of the Year Award 2016 and Argus Angel Award Brighton Fringe 2015.
At the age of 17, Juliette was sectioned under the Mental Health Act because of anorexia. She had dropped to a size 4 and told she was one month away from dying. Following her recovery from anorexia she developed a condition of over eating which saw her climb to a size 20 and be considered obese. She has been diagnosed with 15 mental illnesses and been in therapy for more than 20 years. Juliette does not shy away from acknowledging her mental health challenges or sharing her experiences.
Since 2017 Juliette has worked with charity Rethink Mental Health, working as an ambassador and also playing an integral part in educating people on a topic that many have felt uncomfortable discussing. She runs training and consultancy on mental illness and disability in the workplace and educational establishments.
Her work has been highly acclaimed for its engaging, humorous, and honest approach, which helps to foster greater understanding and empathy towards mental health struggles. Juliette’s work has been integral in breaking down barriers and encouraging open conversations about mental health. Her contributions have been praised by various organizations and individuals within the mental health community for their positive impact and innovative methods.
