Diarmuid Gavin

Diarmuid Gavin studied amenity horticulture at the Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin, Dublin.  From here, Diarmuid set up his own gardening business going on to build some of the most beautiful outdoor garden displays. Some of his most iconic works include rearranging the Blue Peter garden with British Rock Band Primal Scream, to designing an estate garden for the National Trust.

His marvellous designs have seen Diarmuid go to win the Royal Dublin Society Gold medal for garden design, twice and the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 1995 and 1996 consecutively.  In 1996, his vibrant city garden propelled Diarmuid’s career in television, where he furthered his individual style in contemporary garden design.

Diarmuid Gavin has since featured on many gardening inspired programmes including Diarmuid’s Big Adventure, Homefront and Gardener’s World, alongside another Great British Speaker, Alan Titchmarsh. Diarmuid also won an Irish Film and Television Award for Best Documentary Series for Diarmuid’s Pony Kids, for which he also presented and wrote. The show followed 5 children as they were professionally trained in show jumping. Diarmuid was inspired to make the series after participating in the BBC show, Only Fools on Horses, where he learned to show jump for charity.
