Wayne Bridge is a former footballer who earned 36 England caps and won the League Cup, FA Cup, and Premier League in a 16-year playing career.

Born in Southampton, Wayne Bridge started his professional career playing for his hometown team. He signed as a trainee in 1996 and made an impressive 151 appearances for The Saints. At the end of the 2000/2001 season, he was voted the Southampton Player of the Year.
In his final season with the Saints, he attracted the attention of Chelsea, who signed him in the summer of 2003. He joined Chelsea during the club’s early Abramovich era and was part of a squad rapidly transforming into a European powerhouse. In his first season, Wayne contributed to Chelsea’s second-place finish and helped the team reach the Champions League semi-finals.
One of the standout moments of Wayne’s Chelsea career came in the 2003-04 Champions League quarterfinal against Arsenal. He scored a memorable late goal to secure Chelsea’s place in the semi-finals, cementing his place in the club’s history. He also won the Premier League title with Chelsea in the 2004-05 season.
In 2006, after a short loan to Fulham to regain match fitness, he returned to Chelsea, adding depth to a defensive lineup that included Ashley Cole.
After leaving Chelsea, Wayne enjoyed stints at Fulham, Manchester City, West Ham, Brighton, Sunderland and Reading before hanging up his boots in 2014. After a final stint with Reading in 2014, he announced his retirement, closing the chapter on a 16-year professional career that included a Premier League title, domestic cup successes, and numerous memorable moments for club and country.
