Raj Somaiya became the CEO of Silverfox Events in 1991, and it has since grown to become the leading events company in the UK. After three decades in the industry, Raj has established himself as an events architect and expert in his field.
His career started when he began selling balloon bouquets with his late mother, and the journey has seen him now run weddings, birthday parties, memorials, bar/bat mitzvahs, and corporate events for some of the world’s most high-profile individuals.
His work includes organising a birthday party at the Palais Garnier in Paris, a Marie-Antoinette themed party, craning infrastructure into a yacht off the coast of St Tropez, and setting up a dinner show under the Burj Khalifa in Dubai with 24 hours’ notice.
His clients include the CEOs of Authentic Foods, B&M, Patak’s, and Tilda Rice.
His expertise in the event field has seen him become an industry powerhouse in the media, starting in 2014 with the release of My Big Fat Asian Wedding for Channel 4. Since then, he has appeared in programmes such as The Real Housewives of Cheshire (2016), and Lady C and the Castle (2016).
In 2023, he became a judge on BBC2’s The Ultimate Wedding Planner, where he worked with big media personalities and assisted with the orchestration of the show, and The Apprentice – You’re Fired alongside comedian Tom Allen.
As well as this, Raj also owns the restaurant “GupShup” alongside his wife. Translated from Hindi to mean chit-chat, it is one of the most popular Indian restaurants in the Northwest, being a favourite of Love Island alumni Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury.
Raj is available for keynote speaking opportunities, and corporate events.
