Daisy Payne is best known for her residency on This Morning where she shares her gardening knowledge to viewers at home, with the aim of making gardening a little less scary. She hopes to emulate what former Ground Force gardener Charlie Dimmock did by challenging the male-dominated world of TV, and making gardening more accessible and inclusive. Speaking to The Sun, she says:

“I think there’s a perception that if you have long blonde hair and nice nails then you can’t be a gardener – you’re just a pretty girl. It is really important for me to challenge that stereotype”.

As well as making gardening more inclusive, she is passionate about making it more exciting for young children and promoting sustainable gardening. Working on a large garden could feel overwhelming for children so she believes the important thing is to start small, and get children planting or sowing seeds in the hope it would spark an interest that they can take further. She also promotes sustainable gardening, believing that “anything anyone can do to help do their bit in reversing biodiversity loss is better than not doing anything at all”.

She hadn’t always been involved in gardening, it only taking off when she “said goodbye to London’s city life and created a new chapter here in the Cotswolds”. After buying her countryside home, she started up a blog and a YouTube channel which caught the idea of the ITV bosses. Since then, she has climbed the ranks of the gardening world, and provides helpful tips to her social media following of over 21,000.
