Oli France guides teams through the world’s wildest places.
Oli France is an adventurer and expedition leader who has spent over a decade travelling to and navigating the world’s most challenging environments. From deserts to war-torn countries, his adventures aren’t just about survival. Instead, he sees them as lessons in human resilience under extreme conditions.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, and a qualified Winter Mountain Leader with a degree in Outdoor Leadership. In 2021, he founded the company Wild Edge, where he organises and leads adventurous journeys around the world.
His experiences, qualifications, and expertise have made Oli a very popular keynote speaker, sharing his travelling tales, as well as providing tips on developing self-confidence and resilience. He has spoken to audiences large and small across the UK and Europe, focussing on empowerment, adversity, growth, and positivity.
“We invited Oli to be our keynote speaker at our company conference in September 2024. Every interaction with him leading up to the day was a real pleasure: he is friendly, personable and very professional. On the day itself, he delivered a keynote that demonstrated that he had really listened to our brief and had tailored his content to meet the objectives for the session. He engaged the room with his style and content and was more than happy to stay for coffee and informal discussions with the team afterwards. We’ve had nothing but positive feedback about Oli from the team and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him for motivational and leadership sessions.”

Oli France’s passion for all things adventure started when he was a teenager, where she spent many years on a number of ‘misadventures’, from dodging bombs in Beirut to searching for lions in Uganda.
In the years since, his adventures have seen him travel across over 75 countries, through jungles, mountains, deserts, and war-torn regions. He has travelled alone, and he has led teams through high-risk situations in Iraq, the Congo, and Syria.
Examples of Oli France’s adventures include:
– An 8,000-mile solo winter journey across the mountainous spine of Asia
– Guiding one of the first tourist groups through Syria since the start of the civil war
– A solo 405-mile crossing of the world’s biggest frozen lake in Siberia whilst hauling a 60kg sled
– Climbed the highest mountain in in Iraq, as well as other mountains including Mount Blanc and Nyiragongo
– Completed a human-powered journey from the lowest point in Africa to the highest; a 1,636 mile bike ride, followed by a successful Kilimanjaro climb, all whilst guiding a group of fellow adventurers
In 2024, he plans to make a 3,500-mile human-powered journey from Death Valley in California to Denali in Alaska, over 10 weeks, through deserts, frozen roads, and impressive mountains.
Oli France has faced some of the harshest environments and treacherous situations; he has faced minefields, spies, interrogators, arrests, earthquakes, avalanches, meningitis, and severe dehydration. What makes that more impressive is that he has maintained a 100% record of keeping his team and his clients safe.
His adventures have seen him publish The Trail of the Mountain Folk (2017), particularly inspired by his trek over the Asian mountains.

Oli has spoken to small teams and large teams, intimate gatherings of audiences of hundreds, in-person and virtually; whichever form, his mission is quite simple – “to guide the audience on a journey, bringing empowering new perspectives on resilience, self-confidence, leadership, and how we can fulfil our boldest life goals”.
Travelling to such places as Oli does, it’s important to recognise the pressure and the perils that come along with this way of life. Over the years, Oli has focussed on the need for high-functioning teams in all high-pressured situations. He has spoken to industry-leading business figures, former CIA officers, terminal cancer patients, ultra-high-net-worth individuals, and young people embarking on their first adventure.
Finding Light in the Darkest Places: Oli has faced a range of bleak situations in high-risk environments; what he has learned from this is how we all hold the power to find the light even in our darkest times. He will talk about the importance of perspective, and leave audiences feeling empowered to cope with difficult situations, and to use them as an opportunity to grow.
The Confidence Within: When we look at successful people, we think that they must be really happy and confident. But that’s not always true. In fact, it is our self-confidence that can be the limiting factor in achieving our goals. Oli shares how to unlock our self-confidence, leaving audience members filled with a newfound sense of self-belief in which to achieve our boldest ambitions.
Leadership on the Edge: Oli has led countless teams through high-risk situations, from the tallest mountains to the densest jungles. Oli shares his leadership lessons from these demanding environments, focussing on the human elements of leadership, providing audience members with the tools to build their resilient, caring, and high-performing teams.

Oli was incredible, he wowed my boss and executive team. Our chairman loved him and the feedback from the team is that he was the best part of the event. His speech was amazing and he was also an extremely talented MC who carried the event despite many last minute changes and deviations. He took my brief to heart and made the keynote really focussed on what we as a business are trying to achieve and people were very engaged. – Halfords.
