Mark entered the professional world of stand-up comedy in 2000 when he reached the final of Channel 4’s So You Think You’re Funny (1988-) competition. Since then, he has toured the world as a live comic and has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe festival more than ten times. He has won awards for his comedy, including in 2018 at the Leicester Mercury Comedy Festival for the best joke of the festival. Due to the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, Mark transitioned his live shows to online performances.

His rising name in comedy saw him move to more presenting roles. His first television hosting job was for Channel 4’s Balls of Steel (2005-2008) in 2005, for which he won the Best Presenter at the NRTA Awards. 

Not only did he present humorous comedy shows and panel shows, Mark started presenting critically acclaimed documentaries, his most famous being The World’s and Me, in which he met some of the world’s most extraordinary people, including the tallest woman in the world, the smallest man, and the richest teenager. The show ran to three series and twelve-one hour films, and also let to the release of a tie-in book.

For five years, Mark was the presenter of Sky Movies’ weekly movie-news show 35mm (2008-), and Channel 4’s The Mad Bad Ad Show (2012) where he worked alongside comedians Micky Flanagan and Mark Watson. In 2015, Matt took on the challenge of co-hosting If Katie Hopkins Ruled The World (2015) for TLC, alongside the notoriously controversial communist and ex-Apprentice contest herself, Katie Hopkins. 

Trying not to take himself too seriously, Mark has also taken part in popular reality shows such as Let’s Dance for Comic Relief (2009-2017) as a member of “Destiny’s Dad” alongside fellow comedians Hal Cruttenden and Shaun Keaveny. In 2016, he won the celebrity version of Come Dine With Me (2005-). He also appeared in the final series of the Channel 4 entertainment show The Jump (2014-2017) alongside Bradley Wiggins, Robbie Fowler, and Jason Robinson.

As his career has progressed, Mark has steered more towards informative and serious programming. This was evident when he joined GB News in 2021 to host Tonight Live with Mark Dolan (2021-) on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Mark Dolan Radio Broadcaster

As well as being a much-loved television presenter, Mark is a regular voice on the radio. His career started as a radio producer, working for the previously female-only Viva Radio, followed by 963 Liberty (1995-). He then became the producer of the Nick Ferrari and David Banks-fronted Big Boys’ Breakfast, to which he contributed a number of comedic sketches. In 2017 he joined Fubar Radio where he presented a breakfast show, before moving on to talkRADIO to present Drivetime (2016-) between 2019-2021. Mark’s Drivetime show was one of the most talked-about shows on UK radio at that time, generation daily viral videos.

Mark is an in-demand host for events, having fronted the first Annual Freelancer of the Year Awards, the Financial Times PIPA Awards, and the fourth Annual Conch Awards. He also hosted the Edinburgh Festival’s launch party, and broadcast live from the premiere of the 2008 Batman sequel, The Dark Knight, from Odeon Leicester Square. This put him in the mix for film-related events, presiding over the Filmon.com launch in London, as well as hosting Sky Media’s Pub Movie Quiz, Sky Movies Debate: Which is the Best Batman Movie, as well as the World Photography Awards in Cannes.
