Jamie Theakston is a much-loved radio broadcaster, TV presenter, actor, and property renovator.

Jamie Theakston became a household name in the UK thanks to his work on Top of the Pops (1997-2003) and Live & Kicking (1996-99). Since then, he has worked on a number of popular television programmes, radio shows, and theatre shows.
He burst onto our screens in 1996 on the BBC show Live & Kicking alongside Zoe Ball. An instant success, the show won a BAFTA award and generated double the amount of viewers of any other weekend morning show.
The following year, he began working on Top of the Pops, which saw him interview big stars including David Bowie, Madonna, Oasis, the Spice Girls, and Tina Turner.
From the late 90s, he became a key anchor for the BBC, hosting their live coverage of the 1999 lunar eclipse, covering the turn of the millennium, and fronting the quiz show A Question of Pop (2000-01). He has also covered live events including Glastonbury, the Queen’s Jubilee Concert, Comic Relief, Sport Relief, The Brits, The Oscars, The Grammys, and the BBC Concert for Diana.
Other shows he has worked on include The Priory (1999-2002), Wish You Were Here (1999), Not a Lot of People Know That (1998), The Games (2003-06), How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria (2006), The People’s Quiz (2007), Traffic Cops (2010-19), Celebrity Masterchef (2012), Forbidden History (2013-22), and Celebrity Hunted (2023).
Jamie’s move to radio came in 2000, first presenting a weekly two-hour show on Radio 1; he expanded on this with a sports show on BBC Radio Five Live. He then moved to Radio 1, presenting the Sunday Lunch show, and his own eponymous show. He is now best known for his work on Heart Radio, which began in 2005 as co-host of their breakfast show. He continues to present the weekday breakfast show alongside Amanda Holden.
While he may be better known for his presenting duties, Jamie is also an accomplished television and stage actor, starring in The Afternoon Play (2004), Mad About Alice (2004), Little Britain (2004), Marple (2004), My Family (2005), and Hotel Babylon (2006). He has also performed in some big theatres including in Marat/Sade at the Playhouse, Murder in the Cathedral at Spitalfields, ‘Art’ in Whitehall, and Home and Beauty at the Lyric Theatre.
Jamie has worked with brands including Actavia, Disney, Ibis Hotels, LTA’s “All Play Scheme”, the South African Tourism Board, and UNICEF. He is also a patron of Humanists UK and Cancervive, has competed in Soccer Aid, and fundraised for Global’s charity Make Some Noise. He is also a passionate property renovator with an interest in interior design and antiques.
In September 2024, Jamie announced he had been diagnosed with laryngeal cancer. This public announcement led to an increase of 1277% people searching for NHS advice on laryngeal cancer.
