Whilst he may be known for his dog training skills, Graeme Hall didn’t start doing it professionally until about 2008. Before this, he spent over 20 years in a corporate career as an Operations Manager with a team of over 200 people. This may seem unlinked to dog training, but he learnt a lot about people during this time and realised that we have much in common with dogs.

He then got his own dogs – Axel and Gordon, both Rottweilers. He worked tirelessly to ensure they had the correct training and then decided to pass on this knowledge to others, and he has since become a Master Dog Trainer with the Guild of Dog Trainers and trained over 5,000 pets.

He is a regular columnist for the Sunday Times magazine. He has found himself on their bestselling author list for his books All Dogs Great and Small: What I’ve Learned Training Dogs (2021) and Perfectly Imperfect Puppy: The Ultimate Life-Changing Program for Training a Well-Behaved, Happy Dog (2022). The former explored some of Graeme’s success stories, backed by scientific evidence and his go-to training techniques. It made Amazon’s “Dog-Keeping” bestseller list. Following this up with Perfectly Imperfect Puppy, Graeme provided straightforward, simple, science-backed tips on puppy training, including demystifying any complexities. This would also appear on Amazon’s “Dog-Keeping” list.

So far in 2024 he has released two more books, Does My Dog Love Me? which looks at how to understand the ways your dog sees the world, and The Ultimate Kids’ Guide to Dogs. 

His expertise and down-to-earth nature have made him a familiar guest on several popular shows, including BBC Breakfast, This Morning (2020), Jeremy Vine (2020-2022), Celebrity Mastermind (2022), and Christmas University Challenge (2022).

His smash-hit show Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly (2019-present), has been so successful that not only does it air in the UK, it also airs in mainland Europe, Africa, Asia, and North America, with its own spin-off, Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly Australia, Down Under.

He has been hosting his own podcast, Talking Dogs with Graeme Hall, since 2020, offering advice on separation anxiety, exercise, toilet training, sleeping, visitors, rescue dogs, barking, destroying furniture, children, biting, and excitement, among much more.

Graeme offers keynote speeches and training sessions from as short as 30 minutes to a full day. Of these human training sessions, he says, “think of it this way: if I can communicate effectively with animals who need it to be kept really simple, surely it must be possible to easily get what we want – and what we don’t want – from team members and others?”

In 2017, he presented a TEDxLeamingtonSpa talk titled “Why using dog training psychology to train people makes sense”. Since then, it has been viewed an impressive 37,000 times.
