Situated above the quarry village of Llanfairfechan and overlooking the beautiful views of the North Wales coast, the farm is situated just below a Celtic hill fort called “Dinas”. Sheep graze amongst Celtic cairns and burial mounds while the protected, and well-loved Carneddau Mountain Ponies; a rare native breed, roam the wild on the wonderful Carneddau Mountians.
Astonishingly the farmstead site has been archaeologically proved to be the first axe “factory” in the world, dating back to 6000 BC.
Gareth says: “Farming is not a job. it’s a way of life and it’s 24/7. My ambition is to bridge the gap between cities and the countryside and I believe in getting the public to understand farming and food production. I think attitudes towards farmers need to change, the effects on farmers’ mental health is of paramount importance to me. That’s why I am so vocal online, about the problems that agriculture faces today.”
