Cameron Jerome’s love for football started very young, playing as a youth for Stile Common alongside future footballers Reuben Noble-Lazarus, Anthony Griffith, and Fraizer Campbell. As a junior, Cameron played for Westend Juniors, Huddersfield Town, Grimsby Town, Sheffield Wednesday, and Middlesborough.

Cameron made his senior debut with Cardiff City in 2004, where he went on to play in the League Cup. Whilst with the team, he went on to finish top scorer for the 2005-06 season. He joined Birmingham City in 2006, where his on-field antics were not always fixated on the game in hand. But the following year, he scored his first Premier League goal after just 32 seconds. He stayed with Birmingham until 2011, where he signed to Stoke City.

Since then, he played for Crystal Palace from 2013 to 2014, Norwich City from 2014 to 2017, Derby County in 2018, Göztepe in 2018, Milton Keynes Dons from 2020 to 2021, Luton Town in 2021, and since January 2023, Bolton Wanderers.

As well as playing for some of the best Premier League teams, Cameron made appearances for England’s Under-21 team, before representing Grenada on an international level.

Cameron has also become a voice in the fight against racism. Being of Grenadian descent, he has sadly experienced racist abuse both on and off the pitch, and he believes that “football’s anti-racism fight is still in a dark place”, and that taking the knee before games wouldn’t mean anything unless action on abusers were taken.
