A leading figure in the LGBTQ+ community, Amy Lamé published her first book, From Prejudice to Pride: A History of the LGBTQ+ Movement in 2017, which was considered to be the first of its kind because it targeted a young LGBTQ+ audience, to “inspire courage and pride in young LGBTQ+ people, and help answer questions for all readers interested in gender and identify”. The book earned Amy many award nominations, including the 2018 ALCS Educational Writers’ Award.
Amy is also the co-founder of the Oliver Award-winning arts company and club night Duckie. She regularly hosts at the club nights held at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern (RVT), and also DJs at various club nights across the capital.

Amy Lamé served as Mayoress of Camden in 2010-2011, and spent her year highlighting the history and culture of live music and nightlife in the borough. She is a well known and respected advocate for night time economy and culture. Her work with the RVT led to Amy co-founding the RVT Future, a voluntary LGBT+ community group campaigning to preserve the iconic venue.
As a result of her successful track record as a leader and collaborator in the cultural and creative industries, Amy is London’s first Night Czar, working extensively with the Mayor’s office to help boost London’s flourishing cultural scene.
