Diversity keynotes for Race Equality Week Speakers

Why Book Race Equality Week Speakers?

Race Equality Week is an annual event across the United Kingdom that unites thousands of individuals and businesses alike to address the issues concerning race equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Race Equality Week 2024 took place from the 5th to the 11th of February, with the theme – #ListenActChange, chosen by the Race Equality Matters community to embody their ongoing findings and feedback, highlighting a need for greater action and impact from organisations and allies to address race inequality. Race Equality Week 2025 takes place from the 3rd to the 9th of February.

The first Race Equality Week took place in 2021 following the Black Lives Matter Movement and the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on ethnic minority communities. The aim is to turn talk into action and implement equality solutions in UK businesses.

Race Equality Week Facts!

  • Over 3,500 organisations signed up for Race Equality Week in 2022
  • 12.9% of ethnic minorities are unemployed compared to 6.3% for white people
  • In the UK, 8.8% of ethnic minorities worked in senior positions compared to 10.7% of white people
  • Race equality has the power to bring a £24 billion per year boost to the UK economy
  • Organisations with more diverse teams have a 36% better financial return

Featured Speaker – Alexandra Wilson | Inspirational Race Equality Week speakers

Appearing in the Big Issue’s Top 100 Changemakers of 2021, Alexandra Wilson is a barrister specialising in family law, an author and a diversity campaigner. She first came to public attention when she spoke about how she was mistaken for a defendant rather than the barrister three times on the same day in court; “I don’t expect to have to constantly justify my existence at work.”

Since experiencing racial prejudice in court, she has made it her mission to challenge discrimination in the legal system. She released her critically acclaimed book In Black and White: A Young Barrister’s Story of Race and Class in a Broken Justice System in 2020 which explores her journey into the profession, discusses what happens if you have an openly racist judge, and portrays a justice system in which a disproportionately large number of black people are convicted.
