Dry January Speakers: Find Addiction and Wellness Speakers for Dry January

Why  Participate in Dry January?

Dry January UK sees adults up and down the country giving up alcohol for the month of January.

Officially starting in 2013 with 4,000 participants, it has grown exponentially with 2022 seeing 130,000 take part.

Dry January was founded in 2013 by Emily Robinson who  stopped drinking alcohol in 2011 in preparation for first half marathon run.  Soon after Emily started working for Alcohol Change UK, and again gave up alcohol during January as a way to feel better after the Christmas period.  But now that she worked for Alcohol Change UK, she found herself being asked to speak about her own experience and ‘Dry January’ was born.

With famous names such as journalists Alastair Campbell and Peter Osborne on board, the campaign grew and grew, and continues to attract more participants every year to become healthier, but also assist to bring awareness and help those looking overcome alcoholism / addiction issues.

Find inspirational Dry January Speakers

At Great British Speakers, we work alongside some of the country’s best physical and mental health and well-being speakers, some of whom have their own personal experiences of alcohol dependency and addiction.

Dry January Speakers – Lauren Windle

Lauren Windle is a journalist, author and public speaker specialising in addictions. Working as an event and marketing executive in the City of London during her 20s, Lauren developed a love for cocaine and alcohol which quickly spiraled into an addiction.

In 2014, she got clean and became sober and put her life back together. She now runs a recovery course for others who also struggle with unmanageable behaviours.

The course has seen many people recover from addictions to substances, food, alcohol, gambling, sex, pornography and co-dependency, amongst others. Lauren is one of the ideal motivational, Dry January speakers.

Dry January Speakers – Mandy Saligari

Mandy is the founder and clinical director of Charter, one of London’s leading outpatient clinics specialising in private addiction treatment. Having recovered from addiction herself, Mandy understands first-hand the difficulties of overcoming addiction.

She now runs group workshops and hosts interventions and lectures on the subject in an attempt to help others also overcome their addictions. Mandy is also passionate about dispelling the social stigma attached to mental health and holds regular talks at schools on early intervention, addiction, emotional coping mechanisms and self-esteem.
