Sarah Kendall is a frequent face at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and her 2007 show ‘My Very First Kidnapping’ won her a plethora of awards for her theatrical innovation. Following the success of this, she landed a role in the all-female sketch TV show, Beehive for E4.
She took a break from performing in 2011 to give birth to her first child, but returned to stand-up in 2012 with aplomb, gaining 4 and 5 star reviews across the board. Once married to comedy writer Henry Naylor, Sarah now identifies as gay, and is a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community.
On top of her comedy credits, Sarah has appeared as an actor and writer in some of television’s most popular programmes, including Motherland (2017), Frayed (2019-2021), and Dreamland (2023).
She has also made a number of appearances on television and radio, most notably on BBC Radio 4’s Clare in the Community (2004-2019). She has appeared as a guest star on television shows including The Weakest Link (2023), Richard Osman’s House of Games (2022), Sunday Brunch (2022), Guessable (2022), Would I Lie To You? She is very proud of the fact that she won the eleventh series of Taskmaster in 2021. This achievement sits with her other awards, including the BBC Audio Drama Award in 2017, the UK Writer’s Guild Award for Best Scripted Comedy Radio 2017, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Piece of Wood Award in 2014, and the ThreeWeeks Editor’s Choice Awards 2007.
Elegantly sarcastic in its argument, underpinned by fury, Kendall’s show is nevertheless delivered with sufficient verve and lightness of touch not to browbeat the listener. She delivers with dastardly relish.
