“Funny, sharp and with a sheen on her fringe which no man or woman could argue.” – The Times 2019 Election Hot List.
Ranvir Singh’s first national presenting role was when she co-presented Manchester Passion, a live BBC 3 performance.
In 2012, she announced she would be leaving the BBC to join the ITV breakfast show Daybreak, and occasionally review the newspapers for ITV’s This Morning. In 2014, she joined Good Morning Britain as a feature correspondent and has since been a relief newscaster on various news bulletins for the channel, including for the ITV Evening and Lunchtime News and Granada Reports (2017-2020). She has also been a popular choice for covering key moments such as Brexit and the 2019 election.
Whilst working on Good Morning Britain, Ranvir has travelled the world to far-flung places and interviewed individuals at the top of their game. This includes flying onboard the RAF Voyager with Prime Ministers, visiting Canada, China and Sierra Leone, reporting from inside the White House with then-President Trump, reporting at the site of the Grenfell fire, and being one of the first to report on the refugee crisis on the Serbia/Macedonia border.
Her coverage of the 2018 Westminster attack won Ranvir and the GMB team the prestigious Golden Nymph Award in the Live Breaking News category at the 2019 Monte Carlo Television Awards. In particular, she was praised for her ability to strike the perfect tone for a serious situation, without being alarmist, guiding viewers with a balance of fact and speculation, and bringing her own personal knowledge of the event.
She has also reported for ITV’s factual programme, Tonight (2019), hosted several Exposure specials, co-presented The Martin Lewis Money Show (2017), and presented Real Stories With Ranvir Singh (2015-2016). She has also presented the TV special Ghislaine, Prince Andrew and the Paedophile (2022), sat in for Lorraine Kelly on Lorraine (2012-2021), appeared on Loose Women (2015-2021), presented the successful Eat, Shop, Save (2017-2021) programme, and hosted the quiz show Riddiculous (2022).
Not only can she be seen hosting many television shows, she has also appeared on them as a panel show guest or a contestant. She has competed on Christmas University Challenge (2013-2014), Celebrity Chase (2015), Tipping Point (2020), Celebrity Catchphrase (2021), The Hit List (2021), and the 18th series of the BBC show Strictly Come Dancing (2020), finishing in fifth place. She has also been a guest on entertainment shows, including Between the Covers (2021), Martin & Roman’s Weekend Best (2020), and Children in Need (2020).
As Chancellor of the University of Central Lancashire, Ranvir is also a respected advocate for racial diversity in the journalism and media industry, something she feels very passionate about thanks to her Asian background. She was even named Media Personality of the Year 2015 at the Asian Media Awards.
Ranvir’s eloquent, intelligent, confident and passionate discussion about complex news stories and political topics make her a stand-out after-dinner speaker, event host, and awards presenter.
