Before he became a staple on our screens, Mark Wright was a semi-professional football player for the youth teams of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham. Once he hit 18, he moved up to Southend United, which he balanced with freelance club promoting. It was whilst doing this that he was spotted by a TV producer and he replaced football with presenting.

After finishing second in the jungle, Mark was snapped up to front a number of popular television shows, including Mark Wright’s Hollywood Nights (2012), Party Wright Around the World (2014), Take Me Out: The Gossip (2012-2016) which is the companion show to the dating show Take Me Out (2010-2019), Surprise Surprise (1984-2001; 2012-2015), and CBBC’s Dengineers (2015-). In 2014, he took part in the twelfth series of the prime-time show Strictly Come Dancing (2004-), partnering with professional dancer Karen Hauer. They made it to the final in which they came fourth. He has also guest hosted popular television shows such as Channel 5’s The Bachelor (2003-2019), and This Morning (1988-) alongside Rochelle Humes.

As well as being front and centre presenting popular shows, Mark can often be seen as a guest on panel and reality shows, including Who Do You Think You Are? (2004-), Loose Women (1999-), Blankety Blank (1979-), Celebrity Juice (2008-), I’ll Get This (2018-), Alan Carr: Chatty Man (2009-2017), and Comic Relief (1985-).

In 2017, Mark crossed the pond and co-hosted American show Extra! (1994-) alongside U.S actor and presenter Mario Lopez, where he interviewed a wide range of celebrities including James Cordon, Millie Bobby Brown, and Kim Kardashian.

As well as our television screens, Mark can be hard on Heart FM Radio. He has been hosting shows since 2012, including the Friday and Saturday slot ‘Club Classics’, the main Monday-Thursday slot, and his own weekend show filled with feel-good party tracks. Mark has also shown off his DJ-ing skills at private and public events around the world, including in Ibiza.

Regardless of his success on the silver screen, Mark hasn’t abandoned his love of sports and fitness completely. Mark signed for Crawley Town football team in 2020 where he played against Leeds United in the FA Cup. He left Crawley Town at the end of the 2020-21 season, and now lends his skills to charity work, participating in Soccer Aid (2016-) in 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. In 2021, Mark featured in a mini-series for the BBC titled Mark Wright: The Last Chance (2021) which followed his efforts to revive his professional football career. Thanks to this love for sport, he has become a go-to reporter for a variety of fitness-related programmes, including ITV’s Daybreak (2010-2014) and their mini-series Downsize in Dubai (2010). He amalgamated all his passions for sport and fitness by launching his own app, Train Wright, which focusses on health, fitness, and nutrition. This then led him to host the London Marathon coverage in 2020.

Mark Wright soon expanded his brand, releasing his own range of fragrances, and taking up roles with big brands such as Candy Crush, Littlewoods, Matalan, and Oykos. Alongside his wife, actress Michelle Keegan, he owns a number of properties which he develops and sells on, and is keen to have his own property programme.
