Lynne Lambourne is an interiors addict and a warrior on waste. She is passionate about inspiring people to live more sustainability in a house that doesn’t compromise on style or cost too much.
Her background was very corporate – commercial director at Regus Services Office – until her friends entered her on to the BBC2 programme Great Interior Design Challenge in 2014. The exposure on the programme meant she was soon in demand for room design and styling.
In 2014, 2015 and 2017, Lynne helped style room sets for the Ideal Home Show and hasn’t looked back since. Also in 2017, Lynne won Channel 4’s Grand Designs Live Interior Designer of the Year award, for her room styled on an upcycling and sustainability theme. Everything she had in the room was either second hand, upcycled or made from recycled materials.
Lynne also runs a movement she calls ‘Warriors on Waste’, where she campaigns against the use of single-use plastic and promotes the use of products made from recycled plastics and ocean waste in her designs. She is an ambassador for the British Heart Foundation furniture shops where she promotes the purchasing of second-hand furniture.
In 2017, Lynne made a documentary to help educate people on their choices when it comes to single-use plastic. You can watch What Have You Done Today to Save the World here…
In 2020, Lynne teamed up with Gardena and the RHS Chelsea Flower Show to promote their ReThink pledge, fixating on the three Rs: Reduce, Repair and Recycle. She is also designing a garden at the Chelsea show in 2022.
In 2021, Lynne joined Exxpedition, an all-female sailing research team that travelled to investigate the causes and solutions to ocean plastic pollution.
Through her own sustainable interior design company, Lynne offers a number of adult and child-friendly workshops, from furniture upcycling to children’s upcycling, terrarium making and creating a sustainable future. She is an Ambassador for the British Heart Foundation Furniture Shops, promoting their #reuserevolution campaign which aims to get more people re-purposing old items rather than buying new.
