STILLBIRTH RECOGNITION
Kym Marsh has been a prominent advocate for issuing stillbirth certificates to honour the grief and significance of stillborn babies. In 2009, when Kym sadly lost her son Archie 21 weeks into her pregnancy, babies born before 24 weeks of pregnancy are not legally classified as stillbirths, leaving parents without official acknowledgement of their loss. Drawing on her experience, Kym highlights the emotional toll of this policy. She has openly spoken about its effect on her in TV interviews and in her own book – From the Heart, released in 2011. Kym also joined a supportive art group for bereaved mothers, helping participants share and process their experiences.
