Joe Fattorini is known around the world as “Obi Wine Kenobi” the expert presenter on The Wine Show. If you’ve enjoyed wine somewhere between Wick and Whitstable in the UK, Joe was probably involved too, as he’s one of the UK’s leading wine merchants. He has supplied restaurants, celebrities, and even royalty. He has also worked alongside legends such as Sir Alex Ferguson!
Today, Joe guides 250 million viewers in 107 countries through The Wine Show, alongside co-presenters Matthew Goode and Matthew Rhys.
He has been called “The Attenborough of Oddbins” by The Guardian, and one client said, “you will not find a finer, or funnier, wine speaker”. He has also been featured as the highest placed media figure in the annual 100 Most Influential People in Wine by Drinks Retailing News.
Before joining The Wine Show, Joe Fattorini was Director of Sales at Bibendum Wine Ltd, selling to over 1,700 of London’s top hotels, bars, and restaurants.
He has spent years talking about wine to audiences of wine-loving golfers across the USA as consultant to the US PGA Tour. In 2017, he won both the International Wine Challenge Personality of the Year, and the international Wine and Spirits Competition’s Wine Communicator of the Year.
Across his career, Joe wrote about wine for 14 years as the weekly wine correspondent for The Herald Newspaper. Joe has been involved in a couple of book releases too. On Bordeaux (2021) is a collection of the best bits written by best-loved wine writers, critics, and commentators. This was followed up by On Champagne (2022), a look at the pioneers in the world of champagne, both in the past and present, and the personalities who are nurturing it through climate change to shape the champagnes of the future.
Early in his career, he lost six stone, becoming one third of the man he used to be. He now balances the food and wine that comes with his job by competing in Ironman triathlons. This means he has first-hand – if somewhat unscientific – expertise on weight loss.
As well as co-presenting The Wine Show, Joe has featured on programmes including Celebrity Mastermind (2016), Royal Recipes (2017-18), Celebrity Eggheads (2018), and Good Morning Britain (2018). He is also the co-presenter of Drinking With Joe and Maya (2023-), a drinks travelogue that has seen them, so far, visit Sweden, England, and South Africa.
Joe regularly does events for corporations, ,food and wine festivals, hotels, and restaurants. He has hosted charity events and themed dinners, including a memorable vertical wine tasting of Francis Ford Coppola’s wines in Las Vegas! He is also just as a happy on a smaller scale for more intimate events.
Whilst Joe is happy to adapt his corporate approach depending on the client, he often focuses on a few specific aspects:
Sales: Work with Joe’s global network to find new routes into the market, and grow those sales channels you already have with proven sales science.
Marketing: From the STP of strategy and the 4Ps of tactics, Joe has pioneered a unique online MBA-level marketing course. Work with him to apply those insights with bespoke marketing for your business.
Digital: Joe will share the secrets from behind the scenes developing the wine trade’s most innovative e-commerce and social commerce platform, and will help you apply them to your online sales and brand.
Communication: Draw on the secrets of the world’s most successful wine television programme, and apply them to your brand, helping you to tell a better story and build better, longer-lasting relationships.
Joe is a highly sought-after and accomplished speaker, and before each event, he resolves to turn his audience into wine experts. Joe has hosted evenings that mixed expert discussion with anecdotes from his life in wine that left audiences feeling they had been to a comedy show. In fact, he even performed stand-up comedy in 2017 at the legendary Ha Ha Comedy Café in North Hollywood.
Joe takes audiences behind the scenes of the wine world, connecting with over 100 million wine lovers, and turning anyone into a wine expert in just 90 seconds.
The Secrets of the Sommelier: Joe takes you behind the best wines and how to enjoy them. He will take you behind the scenes of London’s most exclusive wine merchants, into the cellars of the rich and famous, and around the world with his Wine Show.
A History of the World…In Wine: Did you know that President Nixon lied about what he was drinking? That President Reagan had America’s first temperature-controlled fine cellar? Or that Queen Victoria was the world’s first wine influencer? Joe is framed for his extraordinary knowledge of the obscure, wonderful, and revealing facts of wine, and he weaves them together in a captivating talk.
The Wine Anatomist: Joe dissects the wines that you buy, and explains why you buy them. Drawing on more than 30 years as one of the UK’s top wine merchants, Joe reveals the tips and techniques people use to get you to buy a bottle, from labels to names to numbers.
Every year, Joe creates three main conference/workshop presentations. For 2024, they are:
1. It’s about taste, not the taste: How you can create irresistible wine marketing by tuning into culture
2. It is the business of the future to be dangerous: What the forgotten people of the past tell us about the way we live today. And how to predict tomorrow.
3. It’s not me. It’s about saying “you”: Five lessons that will transform your communications with customers.
To this day, Joe is proud to say that every client he has worked with has rebooked him for another event.
The UK’s finest – and funniest – wine speaker. Joe made me fall off my perch laughing. Pure brilliance.

Thank you for being such a star and helping to make the dinner great fun and a great success.
Joy Moss, Patron, Jewish Child’s Day
What a fantastic evening/event. We have been running this client event for approximately 5 years and I have to say, this is the best one by far which is all thanks to Joe Fattorini who is a fantastic entertainer and wine expert – clients found him really engaging. I’m not really sure how we are going to top this for next year – we may have to bring Joe back again!
Lisa Sanders, PA and Organiser of Client Event, CBRE
Joe, I wanted to thank you personally for making our evening so enjoyable. Our Clients thoroughly enjoyed their evening and everything worked perfectly. It is a tough act to follow for next year – so we have set ourselves a real challenge. I hope to see you again soon.
Emma Davies, Managing Director of Planning, CBRE
Just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for the events last week…you really held the night together and everyone loved you! I’m sure I will be in contact about others gigs very soon.
Lindsey Arnall, FWD Marketing
I’m very serious when I say your wine dinner at Sugarloaf was one of the most memorable I’ve ever done. Really. When can we do more of those?! When I told you I was going to theme it around “the best of Argentina”, highlighting a particular Catena Malbec….and within 15 minutes you called the vineyard and had a case of the exact same 10yr old Malbec being overnighted to us…..I knew we were in for a treat.
Kent James, Tournament Players Club, Sugarloaf, Atlanta
Joe has been a regular fixture at our Queens Tennis Club wine events over a number of years. Without doubt, he rather than the wine has been the bigger draw and where we have received the most comments. His style, connection to the audience which is a big mix of ages, never fails to engage, entertain and inform. We wouldn’t run out events without him.
