Imran’s comedy career took off after his debut solo show at the 2010 Edinburgh Festival, An Audience with Imran Yusuf, which received a 5-star review on its first day and earned him a nomination for Best Newcomer at the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards.
His success continued with TV appearances on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow (BBC1) and Edinburgh Comedy Fest (BBC3), followed by his own pilot, The Imran Yusuf Show (BBC3) in 2012.
With over 7 million hits on YouTube, Imran’s influence on British comedy is undeniable. He has created five solo shows and continues to push the boundaries of comedic narratives with his upcoming 2025 tour, Soft Jihad. In 2019, he joined forces with Orthodox Jewish comedian Ashley Blaker for the acclaimed UK tour Prophet Sharing.

Born in Mombasa, Kenya, and of East African Indian descent, Imran Yusuf’s unique background has shaped his comedic voice, allowing him to connect deeply with a wide range of audiences.
Not limited to stand-up, Imran also ventured into acting, featuring in shows like Fried on BBC3, Ultimate Brain on CBBC, and The Pentaverate on Netflix.
In 2000, Imran first performed at a comedy show hosted by comedian Jeff Mirza. At the time, he was working full-time designing video games, and in 2003, he quit his job to commit to comedy.
Shortly after, he won a stand-up competition at Newbury Comedy Festival. In 2010, he appeared at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with his first solo show An Audience with Imran Yusuf. He received positive reviews and a nomination from the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards for the best newcomer.
In the same year, Yusuf appeared on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow. The following year, he made big strides, appearing on BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz and BBC Two’s How TV Ruined Your Life alongside Charlie Brooker.
His UK tour An Audience with Imran Yusuf started in 2011 as well at London’s Soho Theatre.
In 2011, Yusuf performed in a show called Bring The Thunder at the Edinburgh Fringe. In 2012, The Imran Yusuf Show was broadcast on the BBC.
