Heather is a philanthropist, activist, entrepreneur and world-record holding athlete.
Heather has made a vast impact with her charitable work, helping people affected by war and disability. Her passion is for helping people overcome diversity, something she herself had to do in 1993 when a collision with a motorcycle resulted in the amputation of a leg.
She founded a charity responsible for clearing 21 million square metres of land mines across the world and helping hundreds of thousands of amputees receive artificial limbs. Her inspirational work has touched many globally.
Heather is also passionate about creating healthy, sustainable, plant-based nutrition, food and cosmetics products, with a range of products across these industries.
After the trauma and tragedy of the motorcycle collision in 1993, which saw Heather have her leg amputated, she turned to veganism as a way to support her recovery and healing. Since then she has become a strong advocate and influencer in matters relating to veganism and plant-based products.
This led to the creation of her VBites Food business, which is one of the world’s biggest manufacturers of meat-free, fish-free, and dairy-free plant based alternatives, currently servicing 24 countries.
Expanding on her plant based mission, Heather has also created a vegan algal oil business, V-Omega3, vegan makeup business, B@One. Heather has also provided investment into many plant based start-ups as part of her ‘VBites Ventures’ portfolio.
Despite her business successes, Heather is most proud of her work in the charitable sector which has included the founding and patronage of ‘Adopt A Minefield’ the charity that raises money for the clearing of mines in war-torn areas, as well as creating awareness about the issues of land mines and supporting those affected by them.
Heather is also the originator and patron of many amputee clinics internationally and has raised hundreds of millions of dollars in the face of atrocities such as the Twin Tower attacks and the Gujarat earthquake in India. So far 400,000 amputees have received artificial limbs due to Heather’s efforts.
Heather has also made a mark in the world of sport, pursuing her passion of ski-racing and remarkably at the age of 47 became the only disabled skier ever to achieve three world records in downhill, skeleton and ski-jumping disciplines.
Heather also holds four gold medals for downhill and slalom skiing at the Skiing World Championships and in 2023 she was awarded The Guinness Book of World Records award for being the Fastest Disabled Speed Skier in the World achieving a staggering 164.95km/h.
