Dr Alka Patel was once a ‘traditional’ doctor, a “drug-pusher” as she calls it. She first entered medicine in 1995 with a MBBS in medicine and surgery from the University of London. She was initially driven in her career by a fascination with the body and the brain. From her, she gained a distinction from the Membership of the Royal College of GPs, as well as another 10 titles including diplomas in Lifestyle Medicine, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and EMCC Coaching qualifications, as well as qualifications in paediatrics, obstetrics, gynaecology, and dermatology. This has led her to have an impressive 40 official letters after her name.
Through her 25 years of medical practice, Dr Alka Patel has personal experience in the darker side of the entrepreneurial drive, the wanting to be so pioneering and successful that you end up ill. She even ended up in hospital with burnout on her birthday, having to admit to herself that she thought focussing on her own health would take too much of her focus away from her ambitions. But it was through her recovery that made her face up to what really helps to achieve sustainable health.
Alka Patel now works with a number of corporate clients, and with her personalised insights, they can achieve healthier lives that create wealthier businesses, and better emotional regulation resulting in a better work-life synergy.
