In 2014, Claudia Winkleman’s daughter Matilda was in a witch’s costume for Halloween, when it brushed against a candle and set on fire. Matilda, aged just eight, ended up with severe burns and had to go through several operations. In 2015, Claudia Winkleman appeared on BBC 1’s Watchdog to give an exclusive interview to Chris Hollins about her daughter Matilda’s accident and to highlight fire safety issues surrounding children’s fancy dress costumes.

Claudia is an advocate for Comic Relief, Red Nose Day and Sports Relief and is a regular presenter of their annual live shows.

Claudia also hosted Let’s Dance for Sports Relief and Comic Relief for Red Nose Day and presented the first Comic Relief Danceathon. She also participated in The Great Comic Relief Bake Off and presented the Great British Sewing Bee for four series between 2013 and 2016.

Away from the BBC, Claudia presented Sky’s Premiere coverage of the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards.
