Billy Byrne
70-year-old Billy Byrne is an electrician. He learned his trade in the 1960’s and then went into lighting in the film and TV business.
An original member of the DIY SOS team, he’s known as ‘The Prince of Darkness’ and is the clown of the team.
Billy is often the butt of the jokes but the programme wouldn’t be the same without him.

He’s appeared in all the series of DIY SOS over the last 20+ years. He’s worked for the BBC for no less than 35 years, and been on the programme since 1999.
He is well known outside the programme due to losing his daughter to cancer when she was just 20 years old.
He has subsequently been involved in raising awareness and fundraising for Cancer Charities.
