Born in Scotland, Andrea McLean was bought up in Trinidad and Tobago before moving back to Scotland at the age of 15. In the end, the family settled in Leicestershire, and it was here that she completed her schooling. She achieved a BA Hons degree in Modern Studies from Coventry University and a Postgraduate Certificate in Periodical Journalism.
Andrea has been working in the media, on and off, since 1996, when she joined The Weather Channel and worked as a weather reporter for Talk Radio. She has since appeared on numerous TV shows as a presenter, contestant or guest. She is best known for presenting GMTV (1997-2008) and Loose Women (2007-2020), but has also presented Our House (1997-2008) and Dancing On Ice Extra (2006). She has been a contestant on reality shows, including Dancing on Ice (2006), Tumble (2014), and Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins (2019). She is also a popular guest, appearing on the likes of Bullseye (2006), Never Mind the Buzzcocks (2009), The Alan Titchmarsh Show (2011; 2013), Celebrity Juice (2017), and Sunday Brunch (2017).
She is also a prolific face online, with a combined social media following of over 610,000 – where she shares information from her business and promotes her collaboration with companies including Bon Marché, QVC, and Matalan.
After experiencing a breakdown in 2019, Andrea realised she needed to change something quickly. So, in 2020, she left Loose Women and pursued her passion for helping others, particularly midlife women, to feel better about themselves. She gained a life coach accreditation and combined her journalism and writing skills to expand This Girl is on Fire; the program now boasts a phone app, masterclasses, courses, podcasts, and live events.
Andrea’s original dream was to be a writer, not a presenter. And yet she has achieved both. Her first book, Confessions of a Good Girl (2012), was a #1 Sunday Times bestseller and was followed by Confessions of a Menopause Woman in 2018. In 2020 she wrote This Girl is on Fire: How to Live, Learn and Thrive in a Life you Love, which became her second Sunday Times bestseller and was followed up by You Just Need to Believe It in 2022, where she shares her tried and tested ways to help women break out of their comfort zone and find happiness.
Andrea’s decades of media experience make her a popular events host and speaker. She can hold the crowds’ attention and offers a warm, humorous, honest, and sensitive experience.

My biggest takeaway is that I am capable of making changes to my life, that I am not stuck and that I can move forward and feel like I am living again and not just existing.

I greatly admire how Andrea fearlessly shares her recovery journey in the pursuit of serving others.
