Steve Davis OBE

Steve Davis OBE is a former professional snooker player, commentator, DJ, musician, and author.

Most known for his impressive snooker career, Steve Davis has more recently hit headlines for being a DJ at Wembley Stadium to crowds of 90,000 people playing between performances by Blur and Paul Weller.

During the 1980s, Steve Davis dominated the snooker scene, reaching eight World Snooker Championship finals in nine years, winning six world titles, and holding the world number one ranking for seven consecutive seasons.

One of his stand-out achievements was in the 1987–88 season, when he became the first player to win all three Triple Crown events in a single season, a feat only two other players have subsequently achieved.

To this day, Steve Davis still holds the record for most professional titles overall, with 84 individual wins.

In 1988 he was named the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year, the first and only time a snooker player has received the award.

Since his retirement in 2016, after 38 seasons on the professional circuit, Steve has become a regular commentator and analyst for BBC’s snooker coverage.
