Sam Quek MBE was one of the Team GB hockey players that won an Olympic gold medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic games.
Sam has since become an in demand TV presenter and host both for the BBC and within the corporate sphere.
In 2024, it was announced that Sam would take part in the 20th anniversary series of the BBC show Strictly Come Dancing, partnered with professional dancer Nikita Kuzmin. They were knocked out of the show in week 7 against Gladiator Montell Douglas and professional dancer Johannes Radebe.

Over the course of her international career, Sam Quek won 125 caps for the England and Great Britain women’s hockey teams, and was a key part of the England squad that won a Gold Medal at the Rio Olympics, and silver medals at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2013 European Hockey Championships.
In 2015, she was a prominent member of the England team that won the Gold Medal at the European Hockey Championships in London, picking up the Man of the Match award in the final against reigning World and Olympic champions The Netherlands.
In 2017, Sam was awarded an MBE for services to hockey.
Since the Olympics, Sam has become a much in-demand sports TV & Radio broadcaster, building a hugely impressive presenting portfolio across a number of sports including football, NFL, hockey and rugby, on Channel 5, TNT Sports, and LFC TV, as well as hosting BBC 5 Live Radio’s ‘606’, the largest football phone-in radio show.
She was also a contestant on the sixteenth series one of ITV’s flagship entertainment shows I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here where she made it to the final four. She also made it to the final in Celebrity Masterchef (2020), finishing as runner up.
She has also presented on BBC’s daytime show Morning Live, The One Show, and became the first female captain in A Question of Sport.
Sam has since appeared on a number of entertainment shows including A League Of Their Own, Britain’s Got Talent, Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, The Chase and Play to the Whistle.
Sam has also co-anchored live shows including the opening ceremony of the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest, and co-anchored the BBC Olympic Breakfast show at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
