Yannis Konstantinidis is a director, creative director, and co-founder of NOMINT, the Emmy-winning creative studio now celebrating its 20th year. From its beginning as an experimental architecture studio, NOMINT has evolved into one of the world’s leading names in advertising, known for its moonshot ideas.
He was recently presented with the Art Directors Club’s Paul Manship Medal, a lifetime honour given to people whose work points the advertising and design industries forward.
His keynote talk – Outrageous Effort – argues that AI has made quality free, and therefore worthless as a signal, and that visible, unfakeable human effort is becoming the last real marker of value. It is a talk delivered from inside the practice rather than the sidelines, built for corporate, brand, leadership and creative audiences navigating what AI means for the worth of their work.
Yannis Konstantinidis initially trained as an architect at UCL’s Bartlett School of Architecture and studied theatre at Central Saint Martins.
His films for WWF, made with real ice, fire, and smoke, and thermal cameras, have become a case study in animation where the process is inseparable from the message. Recent work includes the stop-motion opener for the 2026 Winter Olympics on BBC, which drew the broadcaster’s largest-ever audience for the Games.

Outrageous Effort: AI has made the old signals of value free, and therefore worthless as a signal. Yannis argues that visible, unfakeable human effort is becoming the last real marker of value, and shows what that means for anyone who communicates products, services, and ideas.

Yannis was one of the highlights of the European Design Conference 2026. His ability to weave together evolutionary biology, filmmaking, AI and human creativity into a powerful, accessible narrative captivated the audience from beginning to end, and his talk generated one of the strongest post-conference discussions among attendees. He is an exceptional speaker — engaging, insightful and remarkably authentic — and I would enthusiastically recommend him to any event looking for a speaker who leaves a lasting impression.
Demetrios Fakinos, Director, European Design Festival & Awards
A reminder that our unique fingerprint comes not from chasing trends or shortcuts, but from the sustained effort we invest over time. The audience kept discussing it long after it ended. A true pleasure to work with, and gladly recommended for any event.
