Susie Wolff MBE is a former motorsport driver, Managing Director of the F1 Academy, and a motivational keynote speaker.
She began her competitive motorsport career over 20 years ago, starting out on the karting track. After cutting her teeth in karting, Formula Renault, and DTM for Mercedes-Benz, she made history at the 2014 British Grand Prix by becoming the first woman to take part in a Formula 1 race weekend in 22 years.
After retiring from driving in 2015, and as part of her commitment to fostering positive change within the sport, she launched Dare To Be Different, an initiative aimed at driving female talent by inspiring the next generation and increasing female participation in all aspects of motorsport.
Her hard work was awarded in 2017 with an MBE for her services and contribution to women in sport.
You could say that motorsport is in Susie Wolff’s blood. Growing up, her parents ran a motorcycle dealership and her father raced bikes competitively. As a child, she often went biking and go-carting, but realised she had to be a racing driver when she saw her first Formula 3 race when she was 13.
She went to University, but left after a year, and within a week she was driving for Formula Renault at Silverstone. Within a year she made her debut in the full Formula Renault UK Championships. She finished ninth in the 2003 championships, securing her first podium finish; this was increased to fifth on the podium in 2004.
In 2006, she began to compete in the DTM, racing for Mücke Motorsport, a feat she copied the following year. She would continue to appear in the DTM until 2012, when she left to focus on Formula One.
She was named as the development driver for the Williams Formula One team, and even became the first woman to participate in a F1 weekend since 1992. She stayed with F1 until 2015, announcing she felt she had gone as far as she could go, but she still wanted to help other women get into motorsport.

Whilst she left competitive racing, she didn’t turn her back on motorsport, becoming an ambassador for Mercedes-Benz. In 2018, Susie Wolff was appointed Team Principal and Shareholder of ROKiT Venturi Racing, marking her first formal move into team management. In 2021 she was promoted to Chief Executive Officer of Monaco’s only racing team, but in 2022, following the team’s most successful season to date, she announced her departure from Formula E.
Since 2023, Susie has been the Manging Director of the F1 Academy, the all-female driver category that aims to develop and prepare young female drivers to progress to the higher levels of competition.
After she retired, Susie co-founded Dare To Be Different alongside Motor Sports Association CEO Rob Jones. Officially launched at the Autosport International Show 2016, the organisation aims to increase the participation of women at all levels of motorsport.
Holding events up and down the UK, the initiative invites girls between eight and fourteen to participate in moto racing-related activities. In 2019, they united with the FIA Girls on Track initiative, raising awareness to the opportunities for girls in motorsport.
Since retiring, Susie has used her platform – including a social media following of over 1.5 million – to become a role model for women and girls in motorsport. At speaking events, she shares an insight into her impressive career, as well as being able to inspire audiences to encourage diversity in all industries.
She has sat as a panellist at Google’s Women@EMEA event, and has spoken on the Performance People podcast.

I’ve had the privilege of working with Susie Wolff for an executive event that our company has organized, in that time I have known Susie to be a personable, enthusiastic and a brilliant businesswoman and driver. Susie has built a strong reputation as someone with vision, diligence, and technical knowledge and I am thrilled I had the chance to experience seeing Susie implement these skills outside the racetrack. I found her speech at our conference to be incredibly valuable and educational, and so did the diverse group of automotive executives visiting our event. I strongly recommend Susie to anyone looking for a motivational or business speaker.
