From winning a national BBC television talent show to leading one of Scotland’s most internationally successful music acts, Stuart Cassells has spent his career on some of the world’s biggest stages.
Widely regarded as one of the most recognisable bagpipers of the modern era, he first rose to international prominence as the founder of the global phenomenon, Red Hot Chilli Pipers. Blending the power of the Highland bagpipe with rock music, the group captured worldwide attention after winning the BBC show When Will I Be Famous in 2007, launching a remarkable global touring career and twice the highest selling album in Scotland of the year.
Alongside his performing career, Stuart also built a reputation as a compelling communicator and broadcaster, presenting programmes on BBC Radio Scotland and regularly appearing across national media. He is also an in-demand speaker, host, presenter, and event moderator.
As the driving force behind the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Stuart Cassells helped transform a traditional Scottish instrument into a modern international stage act, performing at major festivals, global events, and sold-out concerts across Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East. Under his leadership, the band won Live Act of the Year twice and became one of Scotland’s most successful international live music exports.
Stuart was a prodigiously talented musician from an early age, and was recognised as the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year in 2005, and was the first graduate with a degree in bagpipes from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.

Alongside his music career, Stuart has experience working in business, particularly the whisky industry. As the former General Manager of The Glenturret (2013-18) and Macallan Distilleries (2018-25), he has worked for private clients, providing high-end dinners, tastings, and VIP experiences.
He is a passionate advocate for Scotland’s business potential, with a proven track record in leading high-impact initiatives that elevate Scottish brands and business on both national and international stages.
With broadcast-level professionalism, Stuart has presented across BBC Radio Scotland on Take the Floor, and Pipeline, and has hosted A Bit of a Blaw With Stuart Cassells. His television experience includes When Will I Be Famous, and Blue Peter, where he gained two collectable badges.
Stuart is now a world-class MC, host, and compère who brings authority, energy, and unmistakable Scottish flair to every event, including corporate, charity, and cultural events.
His confident, polished delivery, combined with his warmth, humour, and impeccable timing makes him skilled at energising rooms, guiding the flow, and keeping the audience engaged.
Stuart also has experience as a specialist auctioneer, with proven success at raising funds at black-tie charity galas and premium events.
Stuart’s inspiring keynotes provide impact, story, and real-world insight. Powerful storytelling grounded in real-life leadership and resilience inspires audiences to act braver, think bigger, and lead calmer, with experience at conferences, industry gatherings, and leadership events.
His personal story adds depth to his presence as a keynote speaker and host. He survived a life-changing stroke in 2022 and later underwent major heart surgery. His recovery has strengthened his perspectives and sharpened his appreciation for meaningful connection. He now speaks with authenticity, warmth, humour, and empathy.
