Sir Michael Fabricant is a broadcaster and former politician. For over 30 years, Michael brought his distinctive style and sharp wit to the House of Commons as the MP for Lichfield.
During his time in parliament, he held roles such as Vice Chairman of the Conservative Party, a senior Government Whip, and a Shadow Trade Minister in Opposition.
Before he was in politics, he was an entrepreneur, founding and running a company that designed, manufactured, and installed studio equipment. He commissioned radio and television stations across 48 countries, and it is this global experience in business that has shaped his international outlook and reinforced his belief in Britain’s place in the world.
“I came to the conclusion that our focussing on Europe at the expense of the rest of the world was not in the long term interests of the UK.”
Sir Michael Fabricant entered parliament in 1992, gradually building up his majority from 238 in 1997 to over 24,000 in 2019.
During his time in Parliament, he was a Parliamentary Private Secretary, the vice-chairman of the Conservative Party for parliamentary campaigning, responsible for their strategy on marginal seats at the 2015 election. He also served as Shadow Minister for Trade and Industry, and then for Trade and Economic Affairs, and as Opposition Whip.
After 32 years of service, he lost his seat in 2024.

Early on in his career, Michael was a journalist in news and current affairs for BBC Radio, and he even made appearances on Woman’s Hour – a fact that continues to surprise many.
He has never shied away from the spotlight, and has appeared on Pointless Celebrities, Have I Got News For You, Celebrity Big Brother, and Celebrity First Dates.
Alongside his media work, Michael is now a popular keynote speaker, providing informative, engaging, and highly entertaining sessions.
