Sir Andrew Strauss is a former England player, captain, and Director of England Cricket. Over his career he played 100 Test matches, 127 one day internationals, and captained 50 matches.
Andrew won three Ashes series and led England to be the World Number 1 Test team.
He is now a popular speaker and corporate ambassador for companies including Heinz, Investec, Gallagher, and Gray Nicolls.
Andrew was named MBE in 2006, promoted to OBE in 2011, and was then made a Knight Bachelor in 2019.
Sir Andrew Strauss was the archetypical England captain – and also one of their most successful ones, guiding England to the top of the world rankings for the first time in 31 years. Among his three Ashes wins was a win on Australian soil, for the first time since 1986.
His early county cricket career began at Middlesex, even being named captain in 2002.
He was called up for his first Test in the senior team in 2004 against New Zealand. Only one year later he became the only English batsman to score two centuries in his first Ashes victory – he was named as Wisden Cricketer of the Year as a result. He was appointed captain in 2009 and joined a select group of players who have won the Ashes at home and abroad.
Andrew announced his retirement from all forms of professional cricket in August 2012. Since retiring, he has become a popular broadcaster for Sky Sports, and a columnist for The Sunday Times.
He has also published a number of books, including:
– Andrew Strauss: Coming Into Play: My Life in Test Cricket (2006)
– Testing Times: In Pursuit of the Ashes (2009)
– Andrew Strauss: Winning the Ashes Down Under (2011)
– Driving Ambition: My Autobiography (2013)

He spent three years as the ECB’s Director of Cricket and was a key figure in England’s transformation into a world-beating one-day-international side. He is currently an Executive Chair for TTB Sport Capital, and the Managing Director of Mindflick, a performance psychometric organisation.
Andrew is now a popular keynote and after-dinner speaker. Celebrated for his sporting achievements, he draws on his leadership experience, delivering insights on building trust, managing high-pressure environments, and creating winning cultures.

Professional, entertaining and down to earth. Most of all, he didn’t just have a few funny stories – his talk really was relevant to business today.
