Rob Walker is a freelance network TV commentator and presenter with an energetic, engaging, and instantly recognisable style. Across a 26-year television career—including 10 Summer and Winter Olympic Games and 8 Summer and Winter Paralympic Games—he has contributed to some of the most memorable moments in British and global sport.
Becoming a broadcaster, and a commentator in particular, was Rob’s childhood dream—one he has never taken for granted. Known for his distinctive, diligent and passionate delivery, Rob has become a familiar voice and face on Channel 4, ITV Sport, and BBC Sport for more than two decades.
In the spring of 2024, Rob became a published author, commissioned by Hachette to write a children’s book for the Olympics. Widely regarded as the most comprehensive children’s book ever written on the Games, it is one of the few children’s titles stocked in the Official IOC Olympic Museum in Lausanne.

In September 2024, Rob was nominated by Channel 4 and shortlisted for British Sports Commentator of the Year, following his role as lead commentator on the Paris Paralympics. His coverage of the live sport, as well as both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, earned widespread praise for its tone, context, humour and passion.
As a speaker and event host, Rob is natural, skilled and accessible. This side of his career has been sharpened through his 18-year role as BBC Snooker MC, working with live audiences around the world. His warmth, honesty and talent for storytelling appeal to a wide range of people—not just sports fans.
During his regular visits to schools, universities and businesses, Rob shares his belief that anyone can force open the door to their desired career with resilience, determination and a sense of humour. He consistently leaves audiences feeling positive, motivated and inspired about their own journeys, ideas and potential.

Rob, thanks for a fantastic contribution last week. You really got it off to a great start, and your enthusiasm for Africa really shone through. Your discussion with Nelly and Josh was the highlight. It would be great to work together again, either with JET or something else. The bank does lots of hosted events, and quite a few of the senior people were in the audience.

Rob Walker is an extremely funny, sincere, and professional speaker who always ensures he does thorough research on whoever he is interviewing or the event he is covering. Earlier this year, Rob hosted our Salute ’66 event in Manchester. He worked seamlessly through a lunch and dinner event, prepared meticulously for his interviews with Sir Geoff Hurst and Gordon Banks, and received fantastic feedback from the tables he was assigned to. A really nice guy and a true professional — could not recommend Rob Walker more highly.
