Richard Etienne is an award-winning introverted leadership speaker, personal brand consultant, author, and founder of The Introvert Space™.
As a proud introvert, he has made it his mission to help quiet and underrepresented voices and leaders thrive in environments that often favour extroversion.
He has worked closely with Prime Ministers, Heads of State, government officials, and senior executives of top FTSE-100 organisations at Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street. He brings a fresh, human-centred approach to leadership communication and workplace culture.
Through workshops, keynote talks, and masterclasses, Richard offers evidence-based practical tools for overcoming imposter syndrome, building executive presence and leading authentically. Harnessing the power of strategic messaging to drive meaningful change, he focuses on celebrating quiet leaders who thrive out of the spotlight.
Richard Etienne runs his own communication consultancy – The Introvert Space™ – and aims to transform workplaces and educational institutions into inclusive environments that value every personality type.
His career started as a career consultant for young adults in the UK in 2003, and since then has worked in change management, social media, journalism, broadcasting, licensing, consultancy, copyright licensing, and digital producing.
He joined the Cabinet Office in 2017, working as their content officer, responsible for the creation and distribution of online content for the Commonwealth Heads of Government meetings. The following year he joined 10 Downing Street as Head of Video Production, particularly as the official videographer for the then-Prime Minister, Theresa May. He spent two years working at the Department for International Trade as their BAME Chair, deputy head of internal communications, and the 2022 Commonwealth Games project lead.
Richard’s debut film, The iD Project: My Dominica Story, told a personal story of discovery, identity, and loss as he traced his late father’s footsteps to the Caribbean Island of Dominica. In 2019, it won the Film Reel Award at the Caribbean Film Festival, and Best Documentary at the British Urban Film Festival.
He has published a range of industry guides and books, including:
