He began as a control systems engineer before joining Williams Grand Prix Engineering. There, he played a crucial role in developing groundbreaking technologies like Active Suspension and Traction Control, which helped propel Williams to the forefront of Formula 1 competition.

In 1993, Paddy transitioned to McLaren, where his innovative approach continued to shine. By 2005, he had risen to the position of Technical Director, overseeing the development of pioneering systems such as brake steer, integrated data analysis and simulators, and seamless gear shifts. These innovations secured multiple championships and cemented Paddy’s status as one of the sport’s most forward-thinking engineers.
