Mathilde Barker came to public awareness in 2023, when she went public with her battle to get diagnosed with endometriosis. She had been seeing medical professionals for over five years, but kept getting ignored, told her it was period cramps or a muscle strain, and that she was being “dramatic”.

Endometriosis is a painful disorder in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of it. Mathilde’s symptoms started when she was 15 years old, and often likened her cramps to pregnancy contractions.
It took her five years before a doctor carried out a four-hour operation and found abnormalities in the back of her pelvis, leading to an immediate diagnosis of stage four Endometriosis, as well as Adenomyosis, which is even less known about.
After going through such a horrendous time, Mathilde is now passionate about speaking up about the condition, and helping other girls and women going through the same thing.
Mathilde is a powerful voice in the world of female health and wellbeing, obviously focussing on Endometriosis, and can often be seen carrying out keynote talks on women’s health and life with the debilitating condition.

Mathilde currently hosts the Backstage Spotlight podcast that aims to “entertain, inspire, and inform”.
