A passionate advocate for women’s sport, health, and inspiring the next generation, Lola Anderson is one of the UK’s most exciting young athletes. Inspired by Team GB’s rowing success at the London 2012 Olympics, Lola followed that path to Olympic glory, winning Gold in the Women’s Quadruple Sculls at the Paris 2024 Games.
Her outstanding achievement earned her an MBE for services to rowing.
Lola discovered rowing in high school and quickly demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication. She won numerous national events and was selected for the GB junior team, where she continued to excel on the international stage.
While representing Newcastle University, Lola became widely recognised as a top-tier rower and progressed to the GB Under-23 squad, capturing Gold in the W4x at the Under-23 World Championships. During her time at Newcastle, she balanced national and international rowing success with earning a degree in English Literature, graduating in 2018.

After university, Lola committed fully to her rowing career, becoming a full-time British Rowing athlete. She won bronze in the W1x at the 2021 World Rowing Cup and followed it with silver in the W2x at the 2022 World Rowing Cup I. Later that year, she claimed her first senior gold medal for Great Britain in the W4x at the European Rowing Championships in Munich, rounding off the season with a bronze at the World Rowing Championships.
By 2023, Lola had firmly established herself on the global rowing stage, with her sights set firmly on Paris 2024. That year, she and the Great Britain Women’s team dominated the Quadruple Sculls, winning two silver medals at the World Cups, a bronze at the European Championships, and culminating with gold at the World Championships.
Despite facing injury challenges in the lead-up to the Olympics, Lola Anderson remained dedicated to her training and her team. Momentum continued to build with another European Championship gold and a World Cup victory, setting the stage for Paris 2024.
The culmination of years of hard work and determination came at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Lola and her three teammates crossed the finish line just 0.15 seconds ahead of the Dutch team, fulfilling a dream Lola had written in her diary 12 years earlier: “My name is Lola Anderson and I think it would be my biggest dream in life to go to the Olympics in rowing and, if possible, win a gold for GB.” Her Olympic Gold in the Women’s Quadruple Sculls secured her place in British Rowing and Olympic history.
