In 2000, Kym Marsh auditioned for the ITV talent show Popstars. She was one of the five singers chosen for the newly formed band Hear’Say,
In March 2001, Hear’Say released their first single ‘Pure and Simple.’
The song went straight to number 1 on the UK Singles Chart in March 2001.
Kym has since had many UK acting roles in including Coronation Street, and TV presenting roles.

However, she is probably now best known for playing Michelle Connor on Coronation Street since 2006.
She quickly became a favourite on the TV show, earning Best Newcomer awards at the British Soap Awards 2007 and the National Television Awards 2007.
She has appeared in The Stage Version of Fatal Attraction and Strictly Comer Dancing.
Her dramatic storylines captured the nation, but none more so than the stillbirth storyline in 2017, which earned her the British Soap Award for Best Female Dramatic Performance.
It was the tragic loss of Kym’s own son Archie, who was stillborn that encouraged Kym to take on the storyline. The storyline has since raised awareness of this tragedy that happens to so many parents while honouring her son.
Viewers praised the actress for taking on such a difficult issue so well, while the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society(SANDS) also praised her for her work to raise awareness of the issue.
