Kerry Riches is a former contestant from the 2023 series of Big Brother, which aired on ITV.
From the moment she entered the Big Brother house on a mobility scooter, Kerry Riches became an iconic member of the household. She went on to have many more big moments, concluding with her back door exit on Halloween.
Kerry, who had previously worked for 21 years for the NHS, has multiple sclerosis and often needs a wheelchair or mobility scooter.
A bubbly and fun character, Kerry doesn’t let her disability bring her down. On the contrary, she has said her disability is her superpower and she is passionate about raising awareness and motivating people to achieve their dreams, whatever challenges they face.
She wants to shine a light on disability and help inspire people to achieve their goals, whatever the challenges.
Kerry Riches is a natural, engaging presenter and has plans to soon become a TV and radio agony aunt. As a passionate mum who loves cooking and dogs, Kerry’s very warm and relatable personality connects well with a wide range of audiences.
Kerry Riches was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at just 25, and almost a decade ago she was diagnosed with a benign brain tumour (prolactinoma), which is controlled by daily medication.
Before Big Brother, Kerry worked as a senior manager in the NHS for 21 years and was Head of Patient Experience (PALS), handling patient complaints and queries, and giving advice to patients and their families.
Since leaving the house, Kerry has been in big demand. Her projects include:
Filming a primetime documentary about accessibility; working with the MS Society; appearing across TV and media; presenting awards at the prestigious Gaydio Pride Awards; and being special guest at the London’s New Year’s Day Parade broadcast to 500 million people across the globe.
Throughout much of her life, Kerry has performed on stage and is now in talks about a role on a major TV comedy drama as well as appearing as a Fairy Godmother at a leading theatre for the 2024 panto season.
Kerry wants to use her newfound fame to inspire people living with disabilities and to help them be more confident. Through her Big Brother experience, she has made a connection with the general public and has received tens of thousands of support messages as well as questions from people living with disabilities wanting advice from her.
Kerry knows first-hand what it is like living with a disability and is living proof that it should not hold people back. She wants to help people come to terms with their illnesses and show them that anything is possible.
