Keon West is a Professor of Social Psychology, renowned for his expertise in identity, prejudice, and representation. He has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications, cited over 1,800 times across the global scientific community.
Through pioneering research, impactful teaching, media contributions, and social activism, Keon West has earned multiple international awards.
He has presented programmes on topics such as racism and social perceptions of nakedness for BBC World Service, BBC Radio 4, and Channel 4, and has appeared as a commentator for major newspapers, television and radio outlets—including BBC Radio 4, BBC World Service, Channel 4, and the Discovery Channel—to discuss his research and areas of expertise.
A globally experienced academic, Keon was born in Trinidad, raised in Jamaica, and educated in the United States and France. He moved to the United Kingdom in 2006 as a Rhodes Scholar, completing a doctorate in Social Psychology at Oxford University.
Keon West is the co-author of the original audiobook Skewed – How Bias Distorts Our View of Other People and How to Make It Stop. His latest book, The Science of Racism: Everything You Need to Know But Probably Don’t Know – Yet, is now available in the UK and will be released in the US in February 2026.
