Kelvin Fletcher is an actor, model, presenter, racing driver, and farmer.
He is best known for playing Andy Sugden in the ITV soap opera Emmerdale, which he starred in from 1996 until 2016.
In 2019, he won the 17th series of BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing alongside professional dancer Oti Mabuse.
In 2021, Kelvin and his wife Liz bought a 120-acre 18th-century farm in the Peak District. The BBC TV series Kelvin’s Big Farming Adventure (2022) followed the couple along with their four children, as they moved their lives into this farm. A further documentary-style series Fletchers’ Family Farm aired on ITV.
The family are very popular online and have a combined social media following of over 1.2 million across platforms.
Before he joined the cast of Emmerdale, Kelvin Fletcher had appearances in Cracker, In Suspicious Circumstances, Chiller, You’ve Been Framed, and Coronation Street. He has also since appeared in Death in Paradise, Moving On, and The Teacher.
He joined Emmerdale in 1996; originally scripted to appear in just three episodes, Kelvin went on to appear in 2,134 episodes over 20 years, leaving the soap in 2016. His time in the soap saw him nominated for the 1999 British Soap Award for Best Actor, and winning the 1999 British Soap Award for Best Dramatic Performance.
In 2019, he became a late replacement on Strictly Come Dancing when reality TV star Jamie Laing pulled out due to injury. Kelvin was partnered with professional dancer Oti Mabuse and they went on to win the competition.

In 2021, Kelvin and his wife Liz bought a 120-acre plot of land in Wincle, near Macclesfield, with the plan to set up a farm. Their efforts were initially filmed for the BBC show Kelvin’s Big Farming Adventure (2022). The following year, they appeared in Fletchers’ Family Farm, which also included a Christmas special.
The series follow the family as they navigate life as first-generation farmers, as well as bringing up their four children, Marnie, Milo, Mateusz, and Maximus.
In 2022, Kelvin and Liz published Fletchers on the Farm: Mud, Mayhem and Marriage. In the book, they reflect on their history, their future, and their daily balancing act of juggling acting careers, four young children, and a farmyard full of animals.
Alongside his acting and farming career, Kelvin is a passionate motor racer. He first ventured into the sport after a visit to a motoring show in 2012. He obtained an MSA Competition Licence and entered the 2012 Silverstone Classic Celebrity Challenge race – which he won.
He has also competed at the Porsche Supercup, the British Touring Car Championship, and the British GT Championships.
