After graduating from Bristol University in 1996, much of Joe’s professional and personal life has been under the glare of publicity.
He appeared on the highly successful BBC 1 series Vets in Practice, which scooped the coveted ‘Best Documentary Award’ in 1999, attracted large viewing figures and transmitted for 11 years! Joe was the resident vet on BBC 1’s Blue Peter, making regular appearances both in the studio and on location. He wrote for the website, featured in the Blue Peter Magazine and even took part in the show’s annual pantomime.
Joe has presented Animal Roadshow for Discovery’s Animal Planet, What’s Up Dog? for ITV and other television appearances include BBC Breakfast, The Alan Titchmarsh Show, Animal Rescue Live, Through the Keyhole, Celebrity Bargain Hunt, Holiday and Watchdog.
Joe has been heard on children’s radio, featuring on BBC 7’s Big Toe Radio and Radio 4’s Go For It. Other roles have seen Joe filming at Disney World in Florida to introduce a Walt Disney Holiday Video and taking the lead role as Aladdin in pantomime.
Joe is an accomplished writer, including You and Your dog (A guide to a healthy life with your best friend), It Really Does Happen to a Vet, The Greatest Dog Tips in the World and The Greatest Cat Tips in the World as well as two recipe books for pets – Doggie Dinners and Feline Feasts.
He writes a column for The Metro and Best Magazine and he has written columns and supplements for The Mail On Sunday and The Guardian to name but a few.
Speaking & Corporate
He has fronted a number of corporate campaigns and hosted skills and career workshops around the country for aspiring vets.
He has been asked to judge pet competitions, both big and small, and make appearances for the Kennel Club to encourage responsible pet ownership.
He works with and supports a number of charities including the RSPCA, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, The Blue Cross and he has been appointed the UK Patron of LSPCA caring for animals in Malawi.
