Born in 1970 in Cuckfield, West Sussex, Jamie was educated at Lancing College before studying at the Brighton College of Technology and later the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).

Jamie’s television breakthrough came in the mid-1990s as a presenter on Children’s BBC and then on the hugely popular Saturday morning show Live & Kicking, which he co-hosted with Zoe Ball. His relaxed presenting style and natural rapport with audiences made him a favourite among younger viewers and families alike.
The following year, he began working on Top of the Pops, which saw him interview big stars including David Bowie, Madonna, Oasis, the Spice Girls, and Tina Turner. He also presented Holiday, a long-running BBC travel programme, National Lottery Live, and alongside Zoe Ball again The Priory. a prime time entertainment show. He has also been involved in documentaries for BBC and Channel 4, where he explored topics ranging from social issues to crime.

Jamie Theakston | Acting & Radio Career
Jamie’s move to radio came in 2000, first presenting a weekly two-hour show on Radio 1; he expanded on this with a sports show on BBC Radio Five Live. He then returned to Radio 1, presenting the Sunday Lunch show, and his own eponymous show. He is now best known for his work on Heart Radio, which began in 2005 as co-host of their breakfast show. He continues to present the weekday breakfast show alongside Amanda Holden.
While he may be better known for his presenting duties, Jamie is also an accomplished television and stage actor, starring in The Afternoon Play,Mad About Alice,Little Britain, Marple,My Family and Hotel Babylon.
He has also performed in some big theatres including in Marat/Sade at the Playhouse, Murder in the Cathedral at Spitalfields, ‘Art’ in Whitehall, and Home and Beauty at the Lyric Theatre.
